Résumé
The innovations in the Archive Law of 3 January 1979.
The new law reflects two rather contradictory tendencies of public opinion : respect of privacy on one hand, leading to a reinforcement of secrecy in statistical matters ; public right of access to administrative documents on the other. The Parliament did not want the law to increase administrative constraints for the citizens. Further decrees will specify the organisation of public archives in France and the enforcement of the new légal dispositions.
