The collection of photographs brought together by the famous Henrich Wölfflin, bequeathed and kept at the University of Zürich, is an important historical source for specialists in the history of art. Rich in thousands of photographs, handwritten and printed notes, or even annotations by the curators, its desirable digitisation nevertheless remains a major challenge. While the distribution of facsimiles online facilitates access to documents, it in no way simplifies access to the information they contain. The experiment we conducted tries to solve this problem, thanks to new models of layout analysis and character recognition, in order to revalorise a corpus whose importance has long been underestimated.
